Independent projects, open source, shipped fast. Currently: an archive of declassified UFO records anyone can search.
A searchable archive of declassified UAP / UFO government records — 564 records across 9 archives: Pentagon PURSUE releases, AARO case files, FBI, CIA, NASA, NARA, plus Canada, Spain and New Zealand.
A mobile-first music streaming app — TypeScript/Svelte, Android build, Cloudflare deployment, 15-language UI, multiple music sources. A demo / educational build, shared as a technical showcase.
A fiat + crypto currency converter that runs entirely in your browser — no accounts, no backend. Real-time conversion across currencies, crypto and commodities, interactive charts with CSV export, drag-and-drop currency management. TypeScript.
A stock portfolio tracker for diamond hands — syncs Interactive Brokers Flex reports, logs manual trades, converts 12 currencies for display, allocation breakdowns, a WSB mode for fun, and AI-generated portfolio insights. Next.js + Cloudflare.
Live anonymous Q&A for events — the audience asks and votes from their phones while the host runs the room. Pseudonymous authors, live polls, threaded replies, per-person vote budgets, a private thought heap for half-formed ideas, and a projector mode for the big screen. Gun.js + Next.js.
The story
I paused the project for two months, not knowing what it could become. Then a stranger posted in the discussion board — and I never stopped building. What followed was a 7-day sprint with Claude as my pair.
The archive exists but sits quiet. I’m not sure what it wants to be.
A stranger posts in /board/uap. Someone out there cares. The spark.
The sprint: 265 commits, then 327, then 117. Search, citations, boards, RAG Q&A, release tracker — built live, deployed daily.
realufo.org is live, indexed, and growing. I handed its ongoing care to Muse — and kept building.
I’m Hector — a creator. I build things I use, and I build them so everyone can use them.
My work is independent and open: if I make it, the code is public and the site is free. No location, no office — I can be anywhere.
Right now that means realufo.org: taking half a century of declassified government records and making them searchable, citable, and actually readable.
More notes on building in the open — coming as I write them.
